What is Restorative Dental Care?

Any procedure that aims to restore your smile's normal function and appearance is classified as restorative dental care.

Our dentists can help restore your smile – and your oral health – by fixing structural issues such as missing or damaged teeth.

Depending on your issue, our dentists at Peachland Dental can determine which restorative treatment option is right for you.

Full & Partial Dentures

These artificial teeth can replace one missing tooth or several consecutive teeth (partial dentures). Full dentures may be used to replace an entire jaw of missing teeth. These help patients who are missing teeth maintain their facial structure, and speak and chew properly.

Root Canals

During a root canal procedure, your dentist removes diseased nerves, tissues and blood vessels from inside your tooth. By removing decay and bacteria, your dentist can help prevent infection from spreading. Plus, the tooth should not need to be extracted, saving you from needing another dental procedure.

Inlays & Onlays

Inlays and onlays are tooth-coloured porcelain fillings that are custom-made in a dental laboratory. They are used to help fix cavities when teeth are too badly damaged for a standard dental filling. Once inlays or onlays are made, we permanently cement them to the teeth as a single piece.

Dental Fillings

At Peachland Dental, both composite (tooth-coloured) and amalgam fillings are used to help repair tooth damage such as a crack or cavity. While composite fillings should withstand moderate pressure due to the continual stress of chewing and can be used on front and back teeth, amalgam fillings made of silver are more economical.

Dental Bridges & Crowns

Bridges are custom-made, natural-looking tooth replacements that restore the natural shape of teeth and the bite between upper and lower teeth. Bridges are bonded to your dental implants or existing teeth to replace a section of missing teeth.

Crowns are porcelain caps your dentist places on top of teeth to help restore their appearance and function. They can cover dental implants, prevent a cracked tooth from worsening, attach bridges or help restore a stained or discoloured tooth.
